Description
Common wisdom holds that some birds are flightless but the ostrich sculpture shows that miracles are possible. This avian aviator sits in a sweet blue, red, and yellow plane. And he (or she) is ready to fulfill his dreams of flying!
I created the ostrich from different colored clay bodies, finished with stains and fired to cone 5. The ostrich perches in the cockpit of an antique plane built by Hubley. They don’t make toys like this anymore! The heavy and well-made plane features with wings that fold in and rubber wheels fold up.
You can see other ceramic sculptures built on antique toys and tins on my pinterest page
