Description

I created this mountain goat sculpture after encountering a little herd of these animals on a hike up a “14er” in Colorado. What a treat to see mountain goats high over 14,000 feet above sea level in the Rocky Mountains. Mountain goats are perfectly adapted to the rough terrain of their alpine environment. Like the animal in this sculpture, they make themselves comfortable on small rock faces. These rocks can be on the top of sheer cliffs thousands of feet in the air and they have no fear. No hesitation. It is a remarkable creature.

I created this mountain goat sculpture from several different clay bodies, fired to cone 5 and finished with stains. The sculpture measures about 7 inches high and 7.5 inches long.
