The siamese cat featured in this sculpture is very proud of herself. She has caught herself a fine white mouse. The mouse, on the other hand, looks a bit worried. It almost seems to be wringing its paws as it peers out from between the cat’s front feet.
I created the siamese cat from four different colored clay bodies, finished with stains and washes and fired to cone 5. The earth tones of the cat are set off beautifully with pops of color from her pink-lined ears, green rhinestone collar, and of course, her eyes. The cat’s big blue eyes add to her determined expression. “Mine,” she seems to say. “This mouse is mine!” As a final touch, both cat and mouse sport long nylon whiskers that almost quiver with anticipation. The cat measures about 8.5 inches high from her dainty toes to her alert ears.
