Those of us whose lives center around beloved canines know the look of this begging dog. The colorful pup rests his (or her) head on a little table. The pup’s jowls spread on the tabletop, his oversized ears hang down, and a pair of soulful eyes look up with anticipation. I featured this sculpture on my facebook page when I started shaping it. You can see many wonderful ideas for sculpture titles on that post. Some of my favorites: “I see you have a hamburger. I too like hamburgers.” And “What’s for dinner?”
I created the speckled mooch from five different colored clay bodies, and finished the piece with stains and washes. The finish highlights the sculpture’s textures and earthy tones. I then fired it to cone 5. This begging dog stands about 7 inches high.
